Suitable products at a glance

First select the system: fuel care or engine oil care. Instructions and dosages are listed directly with each product.

Cleaning boat engines: which system is involved?

Boat engines require different maintenance tasks. The fuel system covers the tank, lines, carburettors or injection systems. The engine oil circuit covers preparation for the oil change and subsequent lubrication. Different products and application timings apply to each of these tasks.

The additives described here are used in the fuel or engine oil. External engine washing, cooling system cleaning or removing salt deposits are distinct maintenance tasks.

Petrol boat engines and outboards

EUROSOL Petrol System (BS) supports the cleaning of carburettors, fuel injectors and other fuel carrying components. It is added via the petrol tank according to the product instructions. The fuel, tank volume and specifications for your boat engine are the deciding factors.

Whether outboard or inboard: for engine oil care, it is also important whether the engine operates as a two stroke or four stroke. An application for the separate engine oil circuit of a four stroke engine is not the same as lubricating a two stroke engine.

Marine diesel: maintaining fuel systems and injection

EUROSOL Diesel System (DS) is designed for maintaining the diesel fuel system. It supports the cleaning of injectors and fuel carrying components. Dosage depends on the actual fuel volume, including larger tanks on a yacht.

At the start of the season, it is also worth inspecting the fuel filter, lines and water separator according to the service schedule. If water or microbial contamination is present in the fuel tank, dedicated inspection and appropriate treatment are required. A system cleaner cannot simply replace that work.

Engine oil care and seasonal changeover

  1. Identify the engine: Check whether it is petrol or diesel, two stroke or four stroke, and check the oil circuit.
  2. Select maintenance objective: Choose BS or DS for the fuel system. OS is applied as an engine flush immediately before a planned oil change.
  3. Carry out the oil change: Change the engine oil and filter according to specification. HO can then be used for supplementary care in suitable engines.
  4. Prepare for winter storage: Follow the full maintenance schedule from the boat and engine manufacturer. Fuel care forms part of this preparation.

Frequently asked questions about cleaning boat engines

Which additive is suitable for my marine engine?

For a petrol engine, BS is assigned to the fuel system, and DS for a marine diesel. OS and HO relate to the engine oil circuit and require a suitable engine design.

Can I clean the outside of the boat engine with this?

The applications described relate to fuel system and engine oil care. For external cleaning of the engine block and ancillaries, follow the manufacturer maintenance and cleaning guidelines.

How much additive does a large boat tank need?

Calculate the amount based on product dosage and the actual fuel volume. The relevant technical documentation is linked in the download area.
